I am not arguing that his opinions made him deserving of what happened to him.
Please read that previous sentence again. I even bolded it to make it more clear.
What I am saying, though, is if you characterize Kirk as a so-called truth-teller, know that these are among the "truths" he told. They are not "taken out of context" as if there is any context in which they are reasonable. These are his words.
• In 2023, Kirk said that some gun deaths in the U.S. were worth it. "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal."
• He referred to COVID-19 as "the China virus" during the height of the outbreak and spread conspiracy theories/disinformation.
• He spread disinformation about immediately after Trump lost the 2020 election, promoting false and disproven claims of voter fraud in the election. On November 5, 2020, he led a Stop the Steal protest at the Maricopa Tabulation Center in Phoenix.
• He claimed to have sent 80 buses of his supporters to Washington just in time for the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Later, in front of a Congressional committee investigating the riot, he invoked his constitutional right not to incriminate himself.
• He believed in the so-called Great Replacement Theory (GRT), a popular lie spread by paranoid white nationalists, anti-semites and racists, which claims that immigrants flock to predominantly white countries for the purpose of rendering the population a minority within their country of origin or causing the extinction of the white population. He said on his podcast, "The great replacement strategy, which is well under way every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different."
• The GRT itself has been cited as a motivation for racially-driven violence, including the deadly 2022 shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo, NY, shooting 13 people, killing 10, all of whom were Black.
• He said that "...the philosophical foundation of anti-whiteness has been largely financed by Jewish donors in the country," an anti-semitic canard. He also claimed that Jewish communities were promoting "hatred against whites". He said that Jewish donors were, "the number one funding mechanism of radical open-border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist policies, cultural institutions, and nonprofits.” He said, “…children of the west, are being taught, with primarily Jewish dollars, subsidizing it, to view everything through oppressor-oppressed dynamic.”
• He said, “Now Jews are experiencing the hate that we white people have been experiencing the last decade.”
• Of Paul Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi's husband who was brutally attacked in his home by a far-right conspiracy theorist with a hammer, Kirk said, "Why has he not been bailed out? By the way, if some amazing patriot out there in San Francisco or the Bay Area wants to really be a midterm hero, someone should go and bail this guy out..."
• He said, "White, college indoctrinated women will ruin America if we let them" and that most women lie about sexual assault.
• He held the position that abortion should be illegal, even if the pregnancy is the result of rape. He maintained that if he had a hypothetical 10-year-old daughter who’d had become pregnant after rape, she should have to give birth.
• He said, "Birth control really screws up female brains, by the way...[Birth control] creates very angry and bitter young ladies and young women, then that bitterness manifests into a political party that is the bitter party. I mean, the Democrat party is all about, 'Bring us your bitterness and, you know, we'll give you free stuff.'"
• He said, “…feminism was never about advancing female rights. Feminism was about hating men. What better way to hate men than to take young boys and chop off their parts?”
• He said, “Women should have children, not careers,” and that Taylor Swift should, “Reject feminism. Submit to your husband. You’re not in charge.”
• He was not the “tolerant of gay people” conservative his supporters want you to believe. He referred to LGBTQ+ community as “freaks” and referred to trans people as an abomination. He said that if Kamala Harris were to be elected, she would, “kidnap your child via the trans agenda.” He also said, “We need to have a Nuremberg-style trial for every gender-affirming clinic doctor. We need it immediately.” Of transgender people appointed by President Biden into government roles, he said, “Your government is being run by freaks. That’s not an exaggeration, that’s not hyperbole. At the highest stakes imaginable, people that have very deep seeded [SIC] mental problems are running some of the most consequential government programs conceivable.” He said, “Everyone’s a Democrat till your daughter gets raped by some trans person in the restroom.”
• He said, “…Starbucks is now taking down their Pride flags. Well, we’re not going to forget Starbucks for all the gay flag stuff you’re doing.”
• He said, “If you are in a red state, you should defund every single one of your colleges and universities if they are teaching DEI, CRT. Maybe underwrite engineering schools, that’s it. Or else you’re going to get swarms, hoards, platoons, of vengeful, rage-filled young women activists that just want to see the world burn.”
• He said, “I want to be very clear. I’m not just talking about illegal immigration, we have way too many legal immigrants coming into this country, too.”
• He said, “They are going to flood the zone and might --- you might go out to dinner, go see a movie and come back to a bunch of illegals sitting in your living room, and it will then become their home.”
• He said, “There is a lie that is told repeatedly that we are a nation of immigrants. We are not a nation of immigrants. We are a nation of settlers that had children.”
• He said that Haiti was “infested with demonic voodoo,” with migrants to the U.S. who will be, “raping your women and hunting you down at night.” They were also, “coming for your daughter next,” according to Kirk. “There will be hundreds of thousands of Haitians brought into Alabama, and they will become your masters,” he said on his podcast. He also claimed that Haitians in Springfield, OH were eating companion animals.
• Of journalist Joy Reid, former first lady Michelle Obama and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, he said, "They're coming out, and they're saying, 'I'm only here because of affirmative action.' Yeah, we know. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to be taken somewhat seriously."
• He said, "If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?"
• He said, “Black people were better off in slavery and subjugation before the 1940s … It was bad and it was evil, but they committed less crimes.”
• On inclusion and Black airplane pilots, he said: "If I see a Black pilot, I'm going to be like, 'Boy, I hope he's qualified.'"
• At a Turning Point USA conference (the organization he founded) in 2023, he called Martin Luther King Jr. "awful" and "not a good person," and also said that the Civil Rights Act of 1965 that outlawed discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex and national origin, and prohibited segregation, was a "huge mistake".
• On his podcast, he claimed that in "Urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more."
• When Simone Biles, one of the world's most accomplished athletes, withdrew from competitions at the 2020 Olympics due to an unexpected condition called "the twisties" which happens to gymnasts when spatial awareness during an aerial performance gets lost and the resulting mental health concerns around possibly about injuring herself, Kirk said, "We are raising a generation of weak people like Simone Biles. If she's got all these mental health problems: don't show up...She's also very selfish, she's immature and she's a shame to the country. She's totally a sociopath."
• Of the devastating Maui fire in 2023, he said, “This is left-wing ideologues that allowed the island to burn. That there is blood on the hands of the water worshippers. Christianity broke us free of pagan slavery. Could it be that Maui did not have to burn if [native Hawaiians] didn’t believe such wacky, goofy, pagan stuff?”
• He said, “We have one culture that you assimilate towards. One. We should not put up with all these different pockets of culture.”
• He said, “We’ve allowed our beautiful cities to just be captured by the cult of anti-racism.”
• He said, “British colonialism actually made the world decent...Why is it that the world, actually, became more civil? Well, certain cultures are better than others. Saying that out loud is a thought crime. British colonialism was the most benign global empire ever.”
• He said, “I don’t think retirement is biblical.”
• Of Trump’s deployment of federal troops to D.C., Kirk wrote, “Shock and awe. Force. We’re taking our country back from these cockroaches.”
• On children receiving free lunches at school, he said, "Show me a single child in America going hungry. Doesn't exist."
• He said, "We’ve been warning about the rise of Islam on the show, to great amount of backlash. We don’t care, that’s what we do here. And we said that Islam is not compatible with western civilization."
• Kirk said, "There is no separation of church and state. It’s a fabrication, it’s a fiction, it’s not in the constitution. It’s made up by secular humanists."
• On the THOUGHTCRIME podcast, he said this about public executions: "It should be public, it should be quick, it should be televised." He continued, "You could have like 'Brought to you by Coca Cola' and no, I'm not kidding. By the way, I would totally tune in to see some pedo get their head chopped off. Convicted by a jury of their peers. I'm talking about a real thing." Talking about children watching executions that are publicly broadcasted, he said, "I think at a certain age it's an initiation."
Please read again that I didn't say he should die for saying these things and promoting these things. That is not my role here. What I am saying is if you believe the things Charlie Kirk said and supported are "the truth," you should definitely do a little digging or at least some self-reflection.
